*Über die Bedeutung des Lebens im Exil

In den strahlend blauen Himmel über Beirut wachsen neue Wolkenkratzer mit Traumblick auf das Mittelmeer. Tagsüber werden sie von syrischen Bauarbeitern errichtet. Zu Hause in ihrer Heimat zerstört der Krieg zur gleichen Zeit ihre eigenen Häuser. Auch nachts dürfen sie die Baustelle nicht verlassen. Sie müssen hinunter in die Keller der Betongiganten, wo sie kochen, hoffen, schlafen.

Der junge syrische Regisseur Ziad Kalthoum hat mit Taste of Cement – Der Geschmack von Zement ein poetisches, emotionales und bildgewaltiges Werk geschaffen, das mehr ist als ein Film – es ist eine Erfahrung.
